The CORA U14B Moodie team, otherwise known as the Donkeys on Ice, took home the Gold medal at the St. Bruno ringette tournament on the weekend of February 1-3, 2019. The Donkeys began their gold medal quest with an impressive 4-2 win over the Saint Hubert Falcons in their opening game. They followed this up with a hard fought 1-1 draw with Montreal Nord 96 who desperately needed a win to have a chance to play in the final game. The Donkeys booked their place in the final and rematch with the Falcons with an early Sunday morning 5-4 win over the host St. Bruno Intrepides who were already eliminated from qualifying for the final, but wanted to go out of their home tournament on a high note. The Final was a closely fought game with the Falcons striking first, but the Donkeys responded with three unanswered goals and then held on for a 4-2 victory.
Congratulations to all the girls for coming together as a team and working so hard to take home gold and go undefeated over a four game stretch in a 28 hour time frame. We also want to thank the coaches Jamie, Chris and Stefan for their hard work and motivation to get the girls to achieve this milestone. As a result, the coaches had to perform a chicken dance on centre ice after the medal ceremony!
