U16B McWaters starts the season with hard fought for medals!

The U16B McWaters team have left two tournaments with medal wins but it wasn’t easy!
Their gold medal win was a hard fought game against Arnprior which saw Arnprior scoring a goal 4
seconds before the end of the game bringing the teams into an overtime battle for the gold medal. With
two simultaneous penalties during overtime, the CORA players valiantly kept multiple shots on net from
getting in until their teammates’ penalties were done. With all players back on the ice our girls scored the
winning goal!

The Mississauga Tournament was another nail-biter. Facing a team in finals who had beat the girls 8-3
the previous night, the team was up against it in the medal game with two defenders missing and a
goalie they weren’t used to. The girls were in the lead in the first period but Etobicoke caught up to them
(but had to fight hard to get there). Final score was 5-4 for Etobicoke (a much better scoring gap) and a
silver medal for Team McWaters!

Well played, ladies, well played!!
